Environmentally Friendly Features

The main ecological advantage of this house is the grass roof and the fact that it is partly built (originally in 1994; rebuilt in 2002) into the hill. And it’s facing south-east and west: warm in the winter when the sun shines. No need then to light the log burner before the afternoon. In the summer the bedrooms, in the back of the house, stay cool. Building material: open cell concrete; with of course double glazed windows.

Together with the other 3 houses of the ‘copropriété’ we share a ecological ‘waste water system’ down in our valley: 3 big ‘sandboxes’ one after the other to drain the waste water. This system is build some 8 years ago, not only for our 4 houses, but also for (potentially) 10 more houses at the other side of the hill. So it’s big enough!

It would be very easy to place a sun-collecting system on the roof.
