Introduction
The Ecovillage is one of Ireland's most exciting ecological projects. There is space for 114 low-energy homes, 16 live-work units and 50 acres of beautiful land dedicated to woodland and food production. A renewable energy centre provides heat to all homes and plans are in place for community buildings and a green enterprise centre.
The Cloughjordan Ecovillage is a not-for-profit organisation developing an alternative model for sustainable living. The ecovillage aims to provide a healthy, satisfying and socially-rich lifestyle while minimising ecological impacts.
Our 67-acre site includes beautiful and fertile land for growing food and trees to promote local food production and biodiversity. The ecovillage will include:

The Development
Ecovillage - Residential
The Ecovillage offers 130 serviced sites of five different types: apartments, terraces, semi-detached, detached and live/work units. They range in size from small apartment sites to large detached sites.
There are a limited number of serviced sites where you can design your own home. Otherwise you can choose from a number of designs drawn up by ecological architects. Members are using a variety of build materials including low-energy timber frame, lime-hemp and cob construction.
Each home is connected to the wood- and solar- powered community heating system.
Prices range from €42,000 euro for an apartment site to €140,000 euro for the largest detached sites.

The Cloughjordan EcoVillage
Become part of a thriving and innovative community in Ireland's only Ecovillage!
The Ecovillage is currently under construction. All homes and business units are being built according to the Village Ecological Charter, a ground-breaking document setting out the necessary standards in green building, energy usage and landscape management.
The ecovillage office is open 9.30-5 pm Monday to Friday. Visits outside of office hours can be arranged upon request.

Ecovillage - Live/Work units
The Crescent - Cloughjordan Ecovillage believes that it is time to embrace a new economic framework, one that sees the economy as a subset of our global ecosystem, not the other way around. The transition to a post-carbon world. involves reducing consumption, producing local food and energy, investing in local economies, rebuilding skills, and preserving local ecosystems.
As well as offering an alternative lifestyle, the ecovillage offers the opportunity to work from this unique space. 'The Crescent' has a limited number of one to two or three bedroom live/work units with 30-70sq metres of work space on the ground floor. Work is due to commence shortly on phase 1 of the Crescent.
These multipurpose live/work units could be used for:
• Professional Services- designers,
architects, consultants etc
• Retail
• Therapy
• Crafts
• Art Space etc
The Crescent is designed by Gaia Ecotecture. Gaïa Ecotecture specialises in practical, innovative, sustainable design to the highest possible social, environmental, economic and technical standards. Since its inception 30 years ago the practice has focused on architecture that works with local ecological systems and has won a range of sector awards. Gaia Ecotecture is a member of Gaia International Network of Ecotects and has several international publications to its credit.
"The Crescent completes the North to South axis from the Lime Tree on Main St., with a sunny public space. The architecture of the buildings is an informal crescent, using natural materials and vernacular details. Passive-solar orientation aims to optimise daylighting and reduce overshadowing.
