This is a benchmark property which comes with academic credentials and peer reviews at the highest level. It has been the subject of extensive research (life-cycle energy analysis, thermal mass analysis, embodied energy analysis, and cost and thermal performance analysis) and is described in a Chapter of the UK’s only PhD Thesis by Portfolio on the subject of earth-sheltered buildings. It was adjudged the UK’s Most Sustainable Building in 2005 by the RICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors), and has been the subject of awards from the Green Organisation, the Norwich & Peterborough Building Society and Green Apple.
