This home is located in a forested area outside of a small village overlooking Lake Pátzcuaro. Away from city noises, but close enough to take a quick trip to town, the location is nothing short of paradise.

The climate in the Mexican highlands is fantastic - some people move to the highlands based on the climate alone! Every day is sunny. The nighttime temperatures will have you putting on a sweater to enjoy a glass of wine or cup of tea outside on the veranda. During the rainy season you will watch the landscape around you turn bright green for the short bursts of rain that happen every day.

10 minute drive: Erongarícuaro
Erongarícuaro is a small, beautiful village that has just about anything you might need: restaurants, post office, grocery store, and a weekly produce street market. Eronga has a long history of welcoming foreigners. There are residents from the United States, France, Italy, Belgium, Germany, El Salvador, Argentina, and more. Besides the vibrant mix of foreigners and locals, Eronga hosts many great events, including mountain bike races, hot air balloon festivals, Semana Santa events, andDía de los muertos.

35 minute drive: Pátzcuaro
Pátzcuaro is coined a magical town. Once you've been, you'll understand why. Colonial buildings, daily markets, two gorgeous central plazas, and fantastic dining all come together to make Pátzcuaro one of the most amazing cities in all of Mexico.
On the outskirts of Pátzcuaro are some larger shopping centers, along with general services such as doctors, car mechanics, etc.

1 hour drive: Morelia
Morelia is the largest nearby city. Top-rated hospitals and doctors, large stores, a university, and a rich history of musical and cultural traditions - what can't be found in Eronga or Pátzcuaro can surely be found in Morelia.

Great Neighbors
The central highlands of Mexico has attracted a number of ecologically minded families and individuals. This home is located within walking distance of four farms practicing sustainable agriculture.
• Bosque Village - a permaculture retreat center and intentional community
• TierrAmor - a permaculture farm and training center
• Las Canoas Altas - a biodynamic farm and training center
• Rancho Fresno - a permaculture farm and intentional community with a recording studio for musicians.
• Hacienda Temazkalli - an ecological retreat center running spiritual events and traditional temezcal (sauna)

*The wood-stove can be used for heating, though heating is rarely necessary in this climate.
