Further Information

Large house (143 m2 living space) in Hanvec (Brittany countryside), on a piece of land of 2 400 m2 without too close neighbours

EU energy label A+ (-7 kWh/m2/year) and A (1 kg CO2/m2/year) for greenhouse gas.

On ground floor: a large lounge/dining room with South and West orientation, large triple glazing, a parental bedroom with dressing and an attached bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen with windows on East and South. The thermodynamic water heater is in the storeroom, close to the kitchen.

On first floor : 3 bedrooms, bathroom, office and an attic (above the garage) which can be used as an additional room.

The house is built in autoclaved aerated concrete and particularly well insulated and airtight. It is equipped with a dual flow CMV. An insert (wood burner) brings the necessary heat during too cold or greyish days. Roof insulation is made with cotton issued from recovery of used clothes (solidarity-based, ecological insulation).

Photovoltaic panels provide more electricity than what the house consumes. A rainwater storage tank of 9 300 litres permits to make also significant savings on the corresponding cost.

An article on this house has been published in "La Maison Ecologique" (N° 64 August-September 2011) and in the book "Ils ont construit leur maison" (they have built their house) published end of February this year at Éditions de la Martinière, as well as a report during the TV news on France 3 Bretagne on 5th February 2010.

*Accreditation rating - A+ according to French RT 2005 (-7 kWh/m2/year) for energy
A for greenhouse gaz (1 Kg CO2/m2/year)
