Introduction
The award-winning Greenhouse project in Leeds is the UK’s most pioneering low-carbon, mixed-use development is Citu’s most ambitious project to date. From the very beginning, Citu set out to champion regeneration and set the benchmark for sustainable development.
Greenhouse is a part-refurbishment and part-new-build of a redundant art-deco hostel in South Leeds. The distinctive development comprises 166 one, two and three-bedroom apartments plus high-specification creative office space.

The concept for Greenhouse is unique yet refreshingly simple; a collection of distinctive homes and offices powered by sustainable energy, with an emphasis on strong community spirit.

A part refurbishment of a classic 1930’s building, the design ethos embraces the history of the building with exposed concrete, timber and brickwork combined with contemporary statement colours, fabrics and retro-chic furniture. The combination of rooftop wind turbines, solar panels, ground source heating, and central rain and grey water tanks create sustainable energy to support everyday living and working, without compromising on design, function or quality.
The spacious courtyard provides the ideal setting for socialising with neighbours, and on-site amenities such as the gym, deli, conference space and vintage bike club, not to mention the nearby allotments, only help to strengthen the sense of community.
The award-winning Greenhouse development is ideally situated in the Beeston area of Leeds, within a 15 minute walk of Leeds Railway Station. Outside of the development, a number of shops, pubs, and eateries are opportunely positioned in the immediate vicinity. Located just off the M621, Greenhouse is well-connected to the M62 taking you East to West and the M1 taking you North to South.
